Footprint Introduction
Description:
The footprint activity was used to introduce ourselves to the class and to get to know one another. We began the project by tracing our footprints using any color of conduction paper we liked. The footprint should include you name that is easily legible and have objects and/or drawings to represent your own individual interests. For this project, we needed to show considerable attention to the craftsmanship of our footprint by neatly trimmed, securely attached, and appropriately spaced items onto your print. We were also instructed to use 3 different types of media–markers, crayons, magazines, etc. When presenting your footprints explain what each item is and why you included it.
My footprint included:
A volleyball, basketball, and softball to represent the sports I grew up playing, a leaf because my favorite season is fall, a book for my enjoyment of reading, a whistle because I am a coach, a jar of pickles because they are my favorite food, headphones for listening to music to relax, a Bubbl'r because it is my favorite drink, my favorite animal is a dog, and a Morning Glory flower to represent my birth month (September).
Extension Activity:
An extension activity for this project could be to incorporate this into science. For example, if you are learning about life cycles, you could have your students pick an animal or a plant as their subject and they would have to research and attach items that represent their chosen life cycle. If they chose to do the life cycle of a tree, they could include pictures of the different stages of a trees life, things that a tree needs, and what a tree does for the earth and people. This can allow students to get to know what different animals or plants do for the environment and they can also use this as an opportunity to present their findings with their classmates.
