3D Art

Description: For this project we were creating a 3D popup art scene with a partner. We started the lesson by learning some of the vocabulary that was important to know when creating our project. With our partner, we chose a background scene that we were going to create on our construction paper. We then each chose one character that each partner would create for the scene. Our scene was underwater, my partners character was a lego piece, and mine was a watermelon. Once we got our characters and scenes, we then decided on a construction paper color and folded it in half. Next we drew on our paper where we were going to cut out the popup pieces for our characters. We then got to design our background; me and my partner did some underwater greenery, 2 fish, a turtle, and a starfish. We then each created our own characters with more construction paper. Clay Mosaic Tiles

Description: For this project, we talked about the history of Mosaic clay tiles, including the origin and development of techniques used to create tiles. We also talked about different methods and techniques when working with air dry clay. Before the students created their clay tile, they needed to brian storm and draw out their ideas for their tiles of what represented them. The teachers then demonstrated each of the techniques and what would be required when creating your own clay tile. The techniques discussed and modeled were, wedging, rolling, slip and scoring, adding clay, and subtracting clay.  They then got to wedge their own clay and roll out their slabs, then they took their clay tile template they drew on and used it to cut out a square tile. They then used the different methods and techniques to create their tiles representing themselves.
