Hidden Safari
Description: For this activity we learned about how it can be easier to draw upside down because you don't focus on the picture rather you can focus on the specific lines. For this project we talked about what animals you find on a safari then we got to pick a picture of animal that you would see on a safari and we did upside down drawings of that animal. We drew these picture in a blue colored pencil. We then used warm colors to draw at least three different patterns over the drawing so that your animal drawing was hidden. It was important that the animal was drawn in a cool color and the patterns on top used warm colors because when you used the red glasses the patterns on top would 'disappear' and the animal drawing would be left to see.
Extension Activity: An extension activity would be for students to 'go on a safari' gallery walk where they read the clues left of what the animal drawing is behind the patterns and the students have to try and guess what the animals are by the clues. After they have made their guesses, they will then go on the safari again but use their red glasses this time to see if they were right with their guesses.
