Van Gogh Inspired Collage



Description: For this activity we learned about Van Gogh and his life and art. We looked into his methods when creating art. We then started creating our Van Gogh inspired collages. To make these collages we used tissue paper pieces and a clear drying paint to stick the tissue paper on black construction paper. After were put the background on our base, we then had to draw Van Gogh inspired lines/patterns onto our paper. We used oil pastels for this, and I choose to do a circular pattern to make the background look like a sunset. We then used another piece of construction paper to draw a silhouette of something and glued that to our background. 

Extension Activity: You can create a writing extension activity where the students need to writing a story that goes along with their collage. They will need to include all the elements of a story and a big focus will be creating the setting that relates to their collage. They will want to make sure they are adding adequate detail so that readers can look at the drawing and see the resemblance to their writing.

 Description:  The footprint activity was used to introduce ourselves to the class and to get to know one another. We began the project by tracing our footprints using any color of conduction paper we liked. The footprint should include you name that is easily legible and have objects and/or drawings to represent your own individual interests. For this project, we needed to show considerable attention to the craftsmanship of our footprint by neatly trimmed, securely attached, and appropriately spaced items onto your print. Dot Day

Project: As a class we read the book "The Dot" by Peter H. Reynolds. This is a story about a little girl named Vashti, and she thinks that she cannot draw but her teacher convinces her to draw a dot on her paper. After she draws that singular dot, her teacher frames her work and gives Vashti the confidence try different techniques to make more dots. After reading the book, we then created our own unique dot using coffee filters, markers, sharpies, crayons, oil pastels, and watercolors. All we needed to do was use the art supplies that color our coffee filter and use water and the watercolors to make our markings bleed and create a unique design on our filters.  Extension Activity: An extension activity that you could include into your language arts class could be to have the class do a character reflection. Zentangle Pumpkin

Description: After a short discussion on what zentangle patterns are and looking at some examples, we practicing creating our own zentangle patterns. We needed to create a pattern that represents who we are and one that is fall themed. We then moved on to creating our pumpkin outline and followed the steps of the teacher while she demonstrated each step. When it came to putting patterns on our pumpkin drawing we needed to include 3 different fall themed zentangle patterns and 3 personal patterns that represented us. For my fall themes, I chose leaves, blue lines for wind, and ghosts. For my personal themes, I chose dog prints, books, and stars.
